Rear Window(Alfred Hitchcock) 1964 **** 11/29/2015

The most comfortable thriller around.  The heat throughout the picture and the laconic roaming of the camera around a brilliant set full of superbly acted vignettes sets a cozy stage for photographer L.B. Jefferies(James Stewart) to observe what he thinks is a murder across the way of his courtyard.  A luminous Grace Kelly plays his girlfriend, high society Lisa Fremont, who gets caught up in his speculation.  The Miss Lonely Hearts sketches are heart breaking, the sound and score perfect, and the final quarter of the movie so excitingly tense as to make it a landmark movie by every metric.
