Lou Bloom(Jake Gyllenhaal) spends all day on his computer, studying, and at night he steals; copper wire and fencing. He is very goal oriented, and speaks like it. He finds what he loves in being a vulture on suffering, filming accidents and crime, selling it to the news. He hires an intern, Rick(Riz Ahmed) at thirty dollars cash a night. Then he starts setting things up for his most spectacular shot. His management-speaky self-esteem talking is misinterpreted as a critique of capitalism; it’s a critique of management science. A good looking movie that ends on a weak joke after some genuine tension and peril.
